Sunday Streets creates miles of car-free streets for people to get out and be active in diverse San Francisco neighborhoods. We promote and encourage physical activity and create safe places for people to bike, walk, play and socialize. Sunday Streets fosters communities and change the way people think about streets as public space and for transportation.

As we prepare for our events, considerable outreach is involved. Neighborhood Outreach Volunteers help us canvas each neighborhood where Sunday Streets is held. We invite neighboring residents and businesses to participate in Sunday Streets by putting up doorhangers with the required information to ensure everyone is notified of parking and traffic changes that may impact them.

To make sure our event is a safe and car-free environment, it takes hundreds of "no-parking" signs posted along the route to let drivers know their vehicles aren't allowed on the road for the day. In order to do so, we need to make sure all proper information is included on our signs.
You can assure volunteering with us at our monthly volunteer movie nights achieves our goal. Volunteers will enjoy watching a fun flick with great company, while preparing signage and outreach materials for our upcoming event. Light snacks and drinks are provided.
Please make sure to sign up so we'll be sure to have enough popcorn! To sign up visit http://www.sundaystreetssf.com/volunteer-movienight
Sunday Streets Excelsior!
Don't miss this great opportunity to come out, volunteer, and explore the Western Addition with us! All volunteers will receive a free lunch and a Sunday Streets Volunteer T-shirt.
Sunday Streets is a series of events put on by the non-profit Livable City, in partnership with the City of San Francisco, to encourage health, community and fun. Open street events, like Sunday Streets, creates a large, temporary, public space by closing off stretches of various neighborhood streets to automobile traffic, and opening them to pedestrians, bicyclists, and activities for several hours once a month. All programs and activities are FREE and open to the public.
Excelsior Sunday Streets is on on Sunday, October 1 from 11am - 4pm. By volunteering for just 2.5 hours, you’re ensuring the safety of participants and fun of car-free open streets.
