Every school year, our children's walk guides introduce young children to the wonders of the natural world, often for the first time. Experience the Botanical Garden through a child's eyes and connect them with the environment through an exploration of the plants, animals and insects that flourish here. Our youth education department serves nearly 6,000 schoolchildren grades K-5 every year.
Next training begins September 19, 2017. Training takes place from 9-12:30 over 12 consecutive Tuesdays, and costs $100 ($75 for SFBGS members). After completing the training, we ask guides to commit to giving two walks per month, always scheduled from 10am-noon, Tuesdays-Fridays.
Become a docent and share the wonders of San Francisco Botanical Garden with visitors from all over the Bay area and the world! We are seeking volunteers who are interested in plants and who enjoy talking to people to become docents and lead Interpretation Stations, a 2 hour interactive display in the Garden on weekends.
Volunteers attend an 8 week training on Saturdays, starting September 9, 2017. After completing the training, we ask that you commit to leading at least one Interpretation Station per month (3 hrs/month). Training fee is $125 ($75 for SFBGS members).
San Francisco Botanical Garden hosts events and programs throughout the year. The next major event is Flower Piano, a 12 day event featuring 12 pianos throughout the Garden.
