Oasis For Girls partners with young women from under-resourced communities to help them cultivate the skills, knowledge, and confidence to discover their dreams and build strong futures. Oasis' three program series, in Life Skills, Arts, and Career Exploration, provides girls with opportunities to focus on internal awareness and external skills to develop into strong and creative leaders.

Program Assistant Internships

Ideal candidates have a B.A. (or currently pursuing) in any relevant field including arts, education, social sciences, ethnic studies, women studies, or equivalent experience. We are especially interested in applicants with experience in youth work specifically youth that are low income & ethnically diverse and has familiarity with young women and urban youth’s issues, and commitment to social justice. A strong candidate has a positive work ethic, strong problem solving skills, can work independently, and are self motivated to have an impact in the work.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience creating and implementing innovative, creative & quality programming for youth.
Bilingual in Spanish or Asian language.
Positive outlook, high energy, and attitude.

Compensation:

Intern hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3-7pm. The internship is unpaid volunteer position. We are happy to work with educational institutions to offer course credits.

Program Assistant Internships

Program Assistant Responsibilities Include:

Participate and model behavior in program workshops and activities
Form mentorship relationships with program youth in consultation with Program Coordinator
Lead ice breaker activities and check in questions daily or as needed
Oversee girl youth leadership roles and responsibilities in the program
Provide behavior management and facilitation support to program staff
Maintain program attendance records, as well as collect and file necessary forms from program participants
Program set up/clean up support
Act as chaperon on program field trips as necessary
Possibility of designing and implementing program lesson based on intern interest, in collaboration with the Program Coordinator
